As they head to the field, Missy Bauer, Farm Journal associate field agronomist, encourages them to keep an eye on soil temperature, which can fluctuate widely this time of year.

“Soil temperatures can support or stall corn emergence and growth,” she says. Listen here as Bauer provides some additional thoughts on the value of moderate soil temperatures at planting as well as some tips farmers can put to use this spring.
