As harvest approaches in the Midwest, yield potential is definitely top of mind.
As of the Aug. 12 Crop Production Report, USDA tallies the average corn yield at 183.1 bu. per acre versus Pro Farmer’s 181.1 bu. estimate, released as part of Pro Farmer’s National Production Estimates.
Here’s a breakdown of how Pro Farmer’s corn yield estimates compare to USDA’s numbers for a seven-state area.
When it comes to soybeans, USDA is projecting 53.2 bu. per acre while Pro Farmer’s number comes in at 54.9 bu.
Based on Pro Farmer’s National Production Estimates, soybeans are on track to yield higher than USDA’s projections in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Ohio and South Dakota.
