Winter may be here sooner than you think, as a shot of much colder air will dip down and cover much of the country this week.
“We’re seeing some wet weather to start off the week as we get into parts of the central and southern plains,” said U.S. Farm Report meteorologist Cindi Clawson.
That shot of cold air could include snow for some, but Clawson sees more rain than snow across the country this week. Rain or snow, the moisture could slow down harvest progress for many.
How cold will it get? Well, Clawson says it’s a “Blue Norther,” which means it’s a fast-moving cold front that will cause a dramatic dip in temperatures, and it will come quickly. She says a Blue Norther typically brings in strong winds and temperatures plummeting 20-30 degrees in a matter of minutes.
