Asian Soybean Rust Continues to Spread

According to USDA’s Asian soybean rust website, on October 29th, soybean rust was reported in Marshall County in Illinois, Virginia Beach County in Virginia, and Butler and Conecuh counties in Alabama. On October 28th, soybean rust was reported in Marion county in Mississippi and in Fayette, Haywood, and Gibson counties in Tennessee.

Since January of 2008, soybean rust has been reported in 15 states. This includes 56 counties in Alabama, 34 counties in Arkansas, 36 counties in Georgia, 24 counties in Florida, four counties in Illinois, 30 parishes in Louisiana, three counties in Kentucky, 79 counties in Mississippi, one county in Missouri; five counties in North Carolina, one county in Oklahoma, 16 counties in South Carolina, five counties in Tennessee, five counties in Texas, and six counties in Virginia. Rust was also reported in 10 municipalities (counties) in Mexico. Soybean rust is expected to spread northward until frost.
