Louisiana Nitrogen Complex Reopens

The Nitrogen Complex is the first of many heavy industrial complexes in the area to reopen after Hurricane Isaac.

CF Industries Holdings, Inc. (CF) reports that its Nitrogen Complex in Donaldsonville, Louisiana has begun the restart process. Production had been halted at the facility on Tuesday, August 28 in anticipation of Hurricane Isaac making landfall. CF stated that no significant damage was sustained by the plant and while some employees are still without power at home, plant operations have resumed.

The Nitrogen Complex, which is located between New Orleans and Baton Rouge, is the first of many heavy industrial complexes in the area expected to reopen after the storm. Crude oil and natural gas operations in and around the Gulf coast were also shut down for the gale and while investors were expecting a jump in the price of crude and natural gas in wake of the storm, prices for those as well as for nitrogen, remain stable.
