The International Fertiliser Society (IFS) provides an international forum on fertilisers for those with professional interest in production, marketing and application in agriculture and horticulture worldwide. It has a proud pedigree stretching back 63 years and has in excess of 500 members from 48 countries worldwide. The society is run by an elected council drawn from its members each normally serving 3 years and which may be extended by re-election.
The current secretary Chris Dawson has announced his intention to retire in late spring 2010 after 10 years sterling service. The IFS council expressed its gratitude to Chris for his long service and thanked him for giving the society time to identify a suitable replacement, appreciating the difficulty in finding a suitably qualified person.
The International Fertiliser Society provides a forum for the discussion and dissemination of contemporary knowledge covering all scientific, technical, environmental, economic and health and safety aspects of fertilisers, from production and marketing right through to application and use. As such it seeks a suitably qualified and experienced person with the high level of organisational and interpersonal skills required for the office of secretary within this international body.
The society is seeking someone with a technical background, ideally within or associated with the fertiliser industry, and with wide contacts at all levels. Experience in organising technical conferences would be of advantage since the society is regularly involved in such events. The Secretary of the IFS is not a full time position and may, accordingly, suit an appropriately qualified person who is equipped and experienced for working from home.
