At the 18th Annual World Championship Ranch Rodeo in Amarillo, Texas, the Sandhill Cattle Co. out of Earth, Texas, walked away victorious. This is the third victory for the ranch in 12 attempts. “We didn’t win the average in any event, but I think we got points in every event,” said Tripp Townsend, team captain for Sandhill Cattle Co. “Things just went our way. I don’t think we’re any better than any other cowboy here, it just happened to be our day.” Taking second was the Lonesome Pine Ranch of Cedar Point, Kan., and team member Chris Potter took home Top Hand. In all 23 teams from across the nation participated at the four day championship after qualifying at local contests.
