A Special Farmall C That’s Stayed Within the Family for Generations

As Farmall celebrates its 100th anniversary this year, a collector from Minnesota shares why his family’s Farmall C has turned into a treasured tractor on their farm.

As Farmall celebrates its 100th anniversary this year, Farmall collectors are sharing stories of why their Farmall tractors hold special meaning on their farm. That’s the case with a Farmall C in Kellogg, Minn., a special tractor that’s been passed down from one generation to the next.

“This was our dad’s,” says Paul Flies of Kellogg, Minnesota. “We all grew up on this tractor. This was basically the main workhorse for years on the farm. It had a mounted corn planter on it, a mower. About anything that needed to be cultivated was done with this tractor, so it did a lot of work around here.”

Kellogg says not only was the tractor a versatile machine on the farm growing up, it was the first tractor he used to plant corn. The uniqueness of the specific tractor goes beyond what the family has been able to utilize it for in the field.

“I’d say it’s probably my favorite tractor, just because it was dad’s and we manage to keep on to it,” says Flies. “After we’re gone, I’m hoping one of my boys or somebody will keep it around.”

Flies says he trusted a gentleman in Elgin, Minn. to restore his family’s heirloom.

“It has the original tires on it and everything yet, so, it’s in pretty good shape for that day and age,” says Flies.
