1976 Steiger Panther 320 Series III ST-320

This tractor was featured for the month of April in the 2009 Classic Farm Tractor Calendar.

Looking like the cover of a new sales brochure, it’s 33, and a working model, as tough durable and experienced as Payton Manning. It was purchased from White Farm Equipment, Hamilton, Ill., in the fall of 1976, along with an 8-bottom plow, for $54,000. “We bought it to get work done in a hurry–and it still does,” the owner says. This Steiger is powered by a Cummins V8 903 cu. in. turbo, enough horses to pull a 45’ field cultivator at 6 mph without so much as a hiccup.

Owners: Carolan Brothers

Greentop, Missouri

They used to drive it 90 miles between their land in Missouri and Illinois. The cab’s interior smacks of a ‘70s muscle car with a fancy steering wheel and wood veneer dash. Yet the cab’s sound proofing gives 80 to 86 decibels reading, which is considered good even today.

The world-famous Classic Farm Tractor Calendar from Classic Tractor Fever is in its 21st year of publication with the 2010 calendar available now. They have calendars, videos, books, and much, much, more. Click here to visit their online shop.
