Once operational in late 2024, American Foods Group’s new beef facility in Warren County, Missouri, will process 2,400 head of cattle per day.

With the extreme heat in cattle feeding areas there have been reports of death losses.

An 8,000-head per day state-of-the-art beef processing facility utilizing robotics and other high-tech features was announced in Rapid City last week. Groundbreaking would be as early as next year.

Groups are calling on USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service to recall any antibioitic-positive beef that was destined for USDA-approved “raised without antibiotics” labeling programs.

Cash cattle saw average prices move slightly higher for the week while CME futures tumbled lower. USDA’s reported cattle on feed February 1 inventory was the highest for that month in the series going back to 1996.
