Creative problem-solving for your farm business doesn’t have to be complicated. Erin Dickson and Leah Halverson of Ten Acre Marketing boiled down the tactical basics of communications and marketing during the 2023 Top Producer Summit in Nashville.
In order to make marketing and communications work, the following questions need to be answered:
1. What is something that needs to change?
Not only do we need to identify challenges, but we also need to ask ourselves “what needs to grow?”
2. What does success look like?
Measuring success is crucial to determine when you’ve “won.”
3. Who is your audience?
This includes who cares, needs to care and who is going to care in the future.
4. Where can you meet them?
Establishing where your audience is (physically and online) is crucial to communication. When it comes to social media, Halverson believes “the only thing worse than not having a social media presence is having a stagnant one.”
5. What is your message?
Clearly define what makes your farm different or special as well as your value proposition.
6. How will you do it?
What will you do to reach your audience where they’re at with the relevant message to achieve your goals?
