OPI has introduced a handheld grain monitoring gadget, Blue Lite, for what it is calling “tech-averse farmers who want to take a first step toward automated data collection.”
“It’s a light, simplified unit that fits our data-driven grain management technology in the palm of your hand,” says Adam Weiss, CEO.
OPI says Blue Lite is setup to handle small- to medium-sized bins. The rechargeable, Bluetooth device can read two and three wire cable configurations. The handheld collects data on grain temperature, moisture and CO2. Farmers then access information on their phone or the cloud. A $100 annual subscription fee is required.
“I was looking for a better way to store data,” says Aaron Foy, who farms with his dad and brother in Saskatchewan, Canada. “You turn it on, hit Bluetooth; it connects, and it’s done. It does everything automatically.”
