Erik Petry, Rochelle, Ill., says he anticipates corn yields of roughly 100 bu./acre this year, roughly half of what he usually harvests. On top of that, Petry says he will start harvest nearly three weeks early, around the first week of September, and that he anticipates corn moisture levels of approximately 29%.
The north central Illinois grower hosted a Yield Chasers Ag Academy for corn and soybean growers earlier this week, sponsored by DeKalb and Asgrow.
Listen here to find out what Petry says he is recommending to farmers this fall.
