Sugar Beet Prices Crash

Imports from Mexico blamed.

The Minneapolis StarTribune reports this morning that Red River Valley sugar beet prices are $38 to $40/ton, 40 to 45% less than a year ago. Mexican imports are the cause, say industry insiders. Sugar content in the beets is also low this year, 17.25% compared to a more normal 18% to 19%. You can read the full story here.
