Vaderstad is a Swedish company with a significant footprint of $330 million a year in sales. The company has focused tillage and seeding, and in 2006 bought a 49% stake in Canadian Seed Hawk to expand their lineup with air drills in the Russian and eastern Europe markets. (since 2006, Seed Hawk sales have increased 700%)
Now, Vaderstad has completely acquired Seed Hawk with the aim to increase their North American footprint, and in particular their business in the U.S. The two products that are the biggest focus to help achieve that goal are the Carrier tillage tool and Tempo corn planter. While Seed Hawk has built its business with no-till air drills, the Vaderstad products complete the lineup.
The Tempo is a high-performance planter that was designed with the goal to plant 28 seeds/second. The Gilstring Seed meter features pressurized seed transport called “Power shoot”. The Tempo can run 10 to 12 mph on a tilled seedbed.
The company will keep the name of Seed Hawk, the Vaderstad products will be marketed through the Seed Hawk North American organization. Seed Hawk founder Pat Beaujot will remain with the company in a strategic product and marketing consultant.
