Pete’s Pick of the Week: Farmer Turns $0 Deal Into $28,500 Combine

Here’s how an Illinois producer more than doubled his money with a small farm retirement auction after he couldn’t get any takers at his asking price, Machinery Pete reports.

A Rushville, Ill., farmer found no takers at his asking price of $12,500 for a 1982 John Deere 6620 combine with 2,694 hours and two heads -- a 1990 John Deere 918 grain head and a John Deere 444 corn head.

So he decided to have a small farm retirement auction Saturday, Nov. 23. The result? He came out with $38,100, including $28,500 for his 1982 combine. Wow!
