Iowan Don Rimathe is ready and waiting for winter with this little-but-mighty outfit in his driveway, as a big rig does its plowing on the nearby highway. The Farmall Cub first appeared in 1947, designed for small commercial farms, but it quickly became popular as a maintenance tractor for acreages, and a big-boy toy for hobby farmers. It featured a 4-cylinder L-head engine, the IH C-60 (C for carburetor, 60 for engine size—59.5 cid.), testing 6.75 drawbar hp at 1,600 RPM. Don’s is a later version, restested in 1956 at 1,800 RPM giving 7.86 drawbar hp. Blade’s perfect for plowing snow, smoothing driveways. Blade can alos be mid-mounted to make little road grader.

The Cub now belongs to grandkids Kelsey and Carter Top, who have fun in Don’s building full of Farmalls from the ‘50s, Models 200, 300 and 400 and bigger brothers to the loveable Cub.
