Dale had my attention at “G1355".

This week while walking the grounds at the 2017 Farm Progress Show in Decatur, IL I met and talked with lots of folks. Too many to count. So much fun. A few conversations stood out. Like the one I had with Dale Asher of Sutter, IL. Dale told me about his rare Minneapolis Moline G1355 tractor. Here’s a picture of it:

Quite the beauty. And I’m guessing you also noticed it’s a front-wheel assist, right? No, I had not seen one of those before. Here’s what Dale had to say:

“It’s a G1355 with an HD 800 cu. inch engine. There were only approximately 100 of those engines built. It will dyno 250 HP. The tractor weights 21,000 lbs. I put the front wheel assist off a 2255 Oliver on it. Moline 1355 was all Oliver from the transmission back. Therefore I had to put a long pinion shaft in my 1355 transmission to run the gearbox for the front wheel assist.”

“I’m 99% sure that there was no front wheel assist 1355’s built!”

I’ve seen (6) Minnespolis G1355 Tractors sold at auction over the past 17 years. Here’s a look at what they sold for:

Here’s a picture of the highest auction price G1355, a 1973 model with only 2,781 hours sold for $16,000 on an April 2, 2016 farm auction in Burlington, IA, sold by the Steffes Group (http://www.steffesgroup.com):

Dale from Illinois also sent me a cool video of their Minneapolis Moline G1050 2WD tractor used to drag walnut logs on their property. Here’s the video:
