This week Paul Neiffer has a conversation with Dave Nelson of Nelson Family Farms based in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Nelson is also co-owner of Ag Solutions Group.

Nelson didn’t join the farm immediately after college, instead having off-farm careers with Monsanto and Ziegler Caterpillar. When he did return to the farm in 2007, Nelson knew he needed to provide additional income. He and his wife had the opportunity to buy a small fertilizer and farm equipment company.

Thanks to Nelson’s entrepreneurial spirit, that small ag supply company has grown into a much bigger company. Good timing, a focus on relationships and a dedication to branding have all helped Nelson on his journey.
