Hmm, seems like I just wrote a blog on how very nice condition combines with a bit of age on them had been selling pretty well at auction here in early 2018.

Possibly the best example came today, March 24, 2018, on a farm auction in semi blizzard conditions in northwest Illinois where the 2011 John Deere 9670 STS 2WD combine with 919 engine hours (no heads) pictured below sold for $161,000 on a sale by Sullivan Auctioneers (http://www.sullivanauctioneers.com).

$161,000 is the highest auction sale price on a John Deere 9670 STS Combine in the U.S. in a full 3 1/2 years, since a 2011 model 9670 with only 601 engine hours sold for $179,000 on a September 1, 2014 farm auction in southwest Iowa.

As I’ve been saying here for the past 5 months now, not everything is selling on the high side at auction. Has to be very nice condition to bring good money. Here’s a look at the Average Auction Price on John Deere 9670 STS Combines going back a full 7 years...note how the average price hasn’t really dropped too much since 2016, after large value drops in 2015 and 2014:
